During the mid-point of the Fine Arts Program, students take a combination of classes: ART 161 – Portfolio, and ART 127 – Mat/Frame.
By this time, students will have taken a variety of classes, such as Figure Drawing, 3D Design, drawing, and painting
classes, to build up their "Portfolio". In these two classes, students are guided by the instructors to select their best
pieces, learn how to mat and frame their work, write a resume, work on their Artist Statement, and figure out the direction
they want to go as an Artist.
At the end of the quarter, everything comes together. They meet with the entire faculty in
the department, who will provide feedback on their work, which they can then use during their second year of study.
All the students who have worked through this process agree that it was incredibly beneficial and helped them to focus as an Artist.
